  1. Just soak whole moong in good amount of water overnight
  2. Next day wash them nicely and put in any cotton cloth
  3. Make the knot at the top and you can hang it or I prefer to keep in any bowl, because it keeps it’s moisture for longer time
  4. Wet this cloth after couple of hours and in 1 to 2 days your sprouts will be ready
  5. Make the salad of your choice or even you can use sprouts in Soups and make Sandwich from sprouts by grinding them and adding some greens; such as coriander, onion, green chilies etc.

This nutritious sprouted moong bean salad is overflowing with deliciousness and is packed with healthy proteins, carbs, and fibers, which will keep you full and satiated for a longer time.

In this recipe, I have used homemade moong bean sprouts and it took me around 2-3 days to sprout mung here in Canada.

I will recommend to use only homemade sprouts in your Salads, because they are much better than bought from the store and also easy to make.

When you think your moong sprouts are ready, then you can add finely chopped carrot, coriander, mint, broccoli, cucumber, avocado, banana pepper, tomatoes and any other vegetables of your choice.

If you want, you can add freshly squeezed lemon juice and add some black pepper and Pink Himalayan salt.

This salad made from moong sprouts is specially good for people, who does not have much time for cooking or who does not know much about cooking, especially College going students, who are studying in a hostel or staying away from family for job or studies. This is An excellent recipe for whole year to use.

Very nutritious with lots of Protein and perfect for a Cold evening or in any day.

Green Moong Dal is not only easy to make, but also it is so yummy and beneficial for our health.

You don’t have to Soak Moong Dal and even any other Dal, because in pressure cooker, every Dal takes only couple of whistles to be ready.

How to Grow Moong Greens in Water?

  1. Soak beans in Cold water around 5 to 7 hours or overnight
  2. Then put beans in a plastic basket
  3. Spread any cotton Soaked towel on top and apply water
  4. Now keep beans in the dark
  5. Apply water once a day
  6. In couple of days, you’ll have moong greens to use

  • Green gram or mung beans are suppose to improve the blood cholesterol levels and really good if eaten in the form of salads by sprouting them.
  • Kids love it and when one is sick, mung dal is really good
  • Kids are often suggested to be given moong khichdi as it is very good for health.
    • Lentils are always high of proteins which help in building the body. So whole mung beans are high in proteins.
  • It is very tasty and you can eat it with Roti, Paratha and also with Rice.

Sprout Moong Holistic Dal Recipe

This Dal recipe is made in pressure cooker.

  • Soak sabut mung(whole green lentils) overnight
  • Roast Jeera(cumin seeds) in pressure cooker
  • Now add chopped onion, garlic and Ginger and stir for 2 seconds
  • Right away add water and stir
  • Add turmeric powder and stir
  • Then add soaked lentils and all other spices-oregano leaves, Pink Himalayan Salt and pinch of Black pepper
  • Stir everything and add enough water and give two whistles and when the steam is released automatically
  • Then add chopped Zucchini and Chopped tomato
  • Again give two whistles and let the steam released automatically
  • When the steam is released, open the lid and mash the Zucchini with hand masher(it called madhani in Punjabi)
  • Now add lots of chopped fresh coriander and serve it with Chapati, Rice and plain Paratha
  • Also it can be eaten as a Soup
