Bajra Khichdi is a warm and nutritious food that can be made especially during winters. This recipe is prepared with pearl millets and can be eaten with any home cooked fresh Sabji; such as-Kala Chana, Lauki ki Sabji, Gobi Sabji and Dal.

Bajra is a type of pearl millet grown primarily in Africa and India, although it’s consumed worldwide. The gluten-free grain is low in calories but packed with healthy nutrients that may contribute to weight loss.

It is one of the major millet which is widely used for its nutritional health benefits around the globe. It has been grown in Africa and the Indian subcontinent. Pearl Millet is known as Bajra in India.

More and more people around the world are waking up to the uses of millets and consuming it in their day to day life. My husband ate different kind of millets for one and half a year once a day in the breakfast.

  2.  Weight Management: Bajra is absorbed slowly from our digestive tract, leading to greater satiety while ensuring a continuous flow of energy. This helps prevent overeating. Means it help to lose weight.
  3. Treats iron deficiency Anaemia: High Iron and Zinc content in Bajra helps in increasing hemoglobin. People with iron deficiency Anaemia must include Bajra in their diet to overcome the problem. 
  4. Good for Digestion: Millet is filled with a ton of fiber. Foods that are rich in fiber are very good for your digestive system on the whole. Millets provide a great source of protein and can help build and strengthen our immunity.
